Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of eating and fasting. During IF you don't have to eat specific foods but rather when you should eat them.
Intermittent fasting is done in several ways. They all split the day or week into eating and fasting periods.
During IF fasting periods, you eat either nothing at all, very little or in a short time span.
The most popular methods are:
Eat-Stop-Eat:
This method involves fasting for 24 hours at a time, once or twice a week depending on what you choose. For example you don't eat from lunch one day until lunch the following day.
The 5:2 diet:
During this method you consume small amount of calories like 500-600 for two non- consecutive days of the week, but during the rest of the week you eat normal.
The 16/8 method:
This method involves skipping breakfast and restricting your eating period to 8 hours, like 12-8 p.m. Then you fast for 16 hours in between eating periods.
All of these methods should help you get healthy, loose weight, increase energy and vitality and have anti aging benefits. I personally find the 16/8 method to be the easiest and most sustainable to stick to. Because of this it's also the most popular.
Have you tried any intermediate fasting methods before? If so, what sort of results did you get?
